David Wilson - DAI Coordinator

The RA Department is proud to announce that David Wilson, recent Winona RA
graduate, has been hired as the Driftless Area Initiative (DAI) Coordinator
in Lancaster, WI.

David comments that the DAI is currently working under a grant to promote
and implement forestry and conservation management on private lands that
will benefit neotropical migratory bird habitat in the Driftless Area. One
outcome of his work will be a heightened profile for the Driftless Area on
the national level to create additional support for agricultural policy
changes like listing hay as a commodity crop eligible for subsidies like
corn & beans.

David states, "The neat thing about this job is that we will actually be
going out and doing work on the ground as we prioritize focus watersheds and
coordinate with partner organizations including other RC&D's, DNR, federal,
local, and private conservation organizations. We are working to develop a
comprehensive package of financial assistance available for cost-share on
projects throughout the Driftless Area."

David is presently wrapping up his research for his degree requirements and
has also worked for GeoSpatial Services within our Department. His other
interests include outdoor activities such as biking and hiking.
Congratulations!
